Today's topic is related to skin problems and its one of the problem which every individual had suffer in his lifetime and are well aware of it .

In some cases , we see there is a recurrent history of boil in individual , one come and goes other start growing in same place or different place .

In some cases it take long time to heal .

It is PAINFUL pus filled cavity beneath skin surface infected by organism.

By definition it is a acute staphylococcal infection of hair follicles with perifolliculitis.

Such infections proceeds to suppuration and central necrosis .

Boil is also known as FURUNCLE .

WHAT CAUSES BOILS ? 


Organism : Staphylococcal aureus .

The hair follicle are get infected with organism which leads to multiplication of organism and it give rise to sign and symptoms .

WHERE BOILS OCCUR MOST Or WHERE DOES ONE GET BOILS ? 


Common area is Neck and Back .

Furuncle on external auditory meatus , as area is less so here the eruption is very painful .

Perianal area , it's also second most place for boils .

Boils under armpits .

WHAT ARE CLINICAL FEATURES OF BOILS?


Redness and Painful Swelling is present at site of boil .

Tenderness marked .

After couple of days , sofeting at the centre and small pustule appears .

It's burst spontaneously and yellowish green discharge occur .

After the discharge is complete drained , a deep cavity is formed lined with granulation tissue and healing take place .

In some cases , boil subsided without suppuration or discharge , they are blind boils .

Similarly , hair follicle of eyelids are also affected and it turns into stye .

COMPLICATION OF BOILS


CELLUTITIS : It is a serious infection of skin and tissues beneath the skin

HYDRADENITIS , it is formation of lumps at infected sites .

SURROUNDING LYMPNODES ARE AFFECTED .

RECCURANCE boils at perianal region leads to pilonidal sinus or perianal sinus .

GENERAL LINE OF TREATMENT OF BOILS


GENERAL HEALTH CARE of the individual should be maintained .

Maintain good hygienic environment

Incision is hardly required .

Antibiotics needed in some case .

If there is recurrent history of boils then diabetic should be rule out .
