WHAT IS ECZEMA ?


Eczema and dermatitis are synonymous .

It is a skin condition in which the skin appears red in colour and there is severe icting .

It is inflammatory response of the skin to both exogenous and endogenous agents .

In Eczema , part of skin become inflamed , itchy , red , and rough and sometimes it turns to be scally skin .

ETIOLOGY FOR ECZEMA 


AGE GROUP : Children are more prone but it occurs at any age group .

SEXES : Both sexes are involved .

LOCATION : Every regions are affected .


WHAT ARE CLINICAL SYMPTOMS OF ECZEMA

▶ Dry Skin Surface .

▶Redness on affected part

▶Itching , severe at night .

▶Eruptions which contains fluids and its burst opening after scratching.

▶In Severe case , scaly skin surface and thickening of the affected part of skin .

ARE ECZEMA CONTAGIOUS ?


NO They are  not contagious , not spread through physical contact .


ECZEMA TYPES BASED ON AGENTS 


EXOGENOUS AGENTS . In this type outside agents are responsible .

Irritant contact eczema is due to contact with detergents , alkalis , acids , strong solvent .

Strong agents mainly cause acute eczema where as weak agents mainly cause chronic eczema . Long term contact with the same type of agents is present while taking case history .

Allergic contact eczema :

In these type hypersensitive reaction following contact with the allergen .
Previous exposure is required .

If allergen come in contact with the skin then eruption start and there is oedema ( swelling ) , erythema ( redness ) affected parts and vesicle formation .

Common sites are Face , Neck and hands , forehead and ears are also involved .

Face are  involved due to use of cosmetic products especially lips and checks

Hands are involved due to use of detergents.

Heads are involved due to use of shampoos

Ears are involved due to wearing of earrings .

ENDOGENOUS AGENTS .


👉Atopic Eczema : It is a genetic predisposition to inhaled or ingested antigen .

👉Seborrheic Eczema : They runs in families and tendency to dandruff .

Sebaceous gland are not involved .

Scalp is affected , there is greasy scales on dull red background .

👉Discoid Eczema : They are in numerous in appearance and mainly seen on limb of elder persons .


👉Asteatotic Eczema : Affect lower extremities of hospitalized patients .


👉Gravitational Eczema : Seen in patient with venous insufficiency and lower limbs are affected .

DIAGNOSIS FOR ECZEMA 

Yours Doctor will diagnosed by examining the affected part and by proper history or exposure to some agents .

No lab test is needed . Unless to differentiate with other diseases .

PRECAUTIONS

➡ Moisture skin with proper creams or moisturizers.

➡ Try to Avoid things which triggers the reactions .

➡ Take bleach bath : diluted bleach bath to kill bacteria .

➡ Use of gentle soaps .
