So let get started with today's topic . It is a normal conditions which we see often in our clinical practice . 

WHAT IS ABSCESS ? 

It is a painfull swelling or collection of pus in body beneath the skin or inside body that is organs

Abscess can occur at anywhere in body .

They are similar to boil but in boil they are limited to skin area and are small and painful
Abscess are big and they goes deeper and deeper and thus involved larger area .

Early stage of Abscess 

HOW ABSCESS ARE FORMED ?

Organism are basically involved in causing abscess , mainly Staphylococcal aureus .

Organisms enter the body from outside through penetrating wounds , lymphatic channel , and blood stream and local extension from adjacent focus of infection .

Once the organism enter in the body , the defense system of body sends fighting WBC to encounter the organisms , in doing so there is cell death and liquefaction occur , so it form pus , pus contains disintegrated and living WBCs and dead and living organisms .

So Abscess is pus field area which is painful and are deeper and cover more surface area .


TYPES OF ABSCESS

 PYOGENIC ABSCESS : Which is commenest type of abscess and are caused by organism which comes in contact with skin surface .

PYAEMIC ABSCESS : In this condition multiple abscess develops from infected emboli .
Formation of secondary focci of suppuration in various part of body .

COLD ABSCESS : As the name indicate it is cold , no sign of heat redness seen only oedematous swelling and it occurs in case of tuberculosis .

CLINICAL FEATURE OF ABSCESS

In case of abscess we can come across the sign of acute inflammation .

Redness : Before the pus collect in cavity the area which it covered turn to be red due to hyperemia .

Heat : Due to hyperemia , there is rise in the temperature .

Pain : Typically throbbing pain is associated with abscess .

Swelling : There is mild swelling around the cavity .

Impairment of functions : If the location of pus is around joints then there is restricted movement due to pain .

If pus is present there is rise in body temperature and at site of abscess fluctuation test will be positive .

Chills can also be seen in many cases .


EXAMINATION & INVESTIGATION FOR ABSCESS .

How long you are feeling of rise in temperature ?
Did you use any medication .

Fever should be check ,
Examine of the affected region , temperature can be check

Congestion is keynote of belladonna , redness of the affected part , skin looks red and shiny ,
Great heat and sensation of burning is characteristic of BELLADONNA .
Can be used in starting phase of abscess formation .


ECHINACEA

It is used as Corrector of blood dyscrasia , 
ABSCESS which is caused due to septicemia , 
Recurrent boils and abscesses , with involvement of lymphatic enlargement
Tincture is used internally and also for cleaning and used as antiseptic wash .
