1 ) WHAT IS SEBACEOUS GLAND  ? 


It is found under the skin layer , which secrets sebum which in turn helps skin to be soft and oily .

They are (Sebaceous Glands ducts ) mainly open ups into hair follicles and rarely directly on Skin .


2 ) WHAT IS SEBACEOUS CYST  ? 


It is slow growing cyst , non cancerous tiny bump on to the skin which is painless until get infected .

Also called epidermoid Cyst or Retention Cyst .


3)  HOW SEBACEOUS CYST FORM  ?


Duct of the sebaceous gland gets blocked which in turn leads to accumulation of sebum and slowly the cyst is formed beneath the skin surface .

The content of the growth is sebum which is yellowish in colour and with unpleasant smells . Cheesy in content .



4) SITE OF SEBACEOUS CYST .


It Can be seen anywhere in the body but is more where sebaceous glands are abundant in numbers .

a  SCALP.

b  FACE.

c  SCROTUM.

It can not be seen on PALM & SOLES as sebaceous glands are not present .


5) CLINICAL FEATURES OF SEBACEOUS CYST .


AGE : Adults are more prone . 

SEX : BOTH SEXES INVOLVED (MALE,FEMALE ) 

CYSTS are Spherical in shape . 

Size can be few mm to 5cm in diameter . 

Movable as it free from the under skin .

They are Non tender , but if infected they become tender . 

Painless cyst .

There is bluish spot which Indicates blocked cyst .

Impression is made when pressed on the surface of the cyst due to cheese material inside the cyst .

TRANSILLUMINATION test is negative as it does not contain fluid .


6) TREATMENT FOR SEBACEOUS CYST


If cyst get infected , course of antibiotics is done and then advice for surgery . 

If it is troublesome Surgical incision and drainage of the cyst is done . 

In Homeopathy , it is treated with the help of medicine , there are many remedies which are helpful in treating the case of sebaceous cyst .

HEPAR SULPHURIS

Another well know remedy and is also used  a in treating case of Sebaceous Cyst.
Patientsly hypersensitive , to touch to pain .
Discharge is very offensive ,
Skin is very sensitive so patient cannot bear touch of cloth .

Discharge from cyst are offensive and yellow in colour .
Painless cyst .

  4. Hello I have this cyst for past 3 years, no pain or anything else. I have taken 3 courses of homeopathy so far to break it however didn't work. I was not given the name of the medicine. Please advise what medicine should I try to break/remove it?
