 WHAT IS URTICARIA ? 

URTICARIA is a localised or Generalised eruptions in which there is involvement of the superficial layer of skin and forming wheals due to endogenous or exogenous factors .

Also known as Nettle Rash , Hives .

Can occur at any part of the body or where the allergens come in contact with .

 AIETIOLOGY FOR URTICARIA 

IgE dependent , in which person are sensitive to special type of antigen and which leads to cause urticaria

Physical Agents : Environment (cold , hot ) , sting bite , trauma etc

Foods : Particular foods cause it examples in some cases milk , milk products , eggs , crabs etc .

Drugs : Some person after taking antibiotics ,painkiller may suffer from urticaria .

Non immunology : serum sickness , after blood transfusion etc

Idiopathic : CAUSE is unknown in many cases .


CLINICAL FEATURES OF URTICARIA . 


If urticaria is of less then 6 weeks then it is acute type
If it is of more then 6 weeks then it is Chronic type .

In many of the cases the cause is Unknown.

There is formation of wheals or hives surrounded by zone of erythema ,

Varies in size , singular or blend together to form big one .

Extremely Itching and sense of warmth present

Erythema and sense of formication present in many cases .

It may be caused by due to Inhalation , physical contact , ingestion

Sometime , it involves the deeper structure like vessels and it is known as Angiooedema

In which Swelling can be seen in mucosal surface of mouth , lips , eyes , tongue , larynx , and skin

When involves larynx it causes difficulty in breathing .

Discomfort and low grade fever is also associated with above symptoms .

TYPES OF URTICARIA


PHYSICAL URTICARIA : It develops due to physical pressure

COLD URTICARIA: It develops due to cold environment , cold foods and cold drinks .

SOLAR URTICARIA : It develops after come in contact with hear of sun .

AQUAGENIC URTICARIA : It develops after come in contact with water .

In eruptions or rashes stinging type of pain occurs which is typical in Apis .
Aggravation from Heat and amelioration from cold .

Astacus Fluviatilis

Topmost medicine used in case of Urticaria Skin compalints are more marked .
Urticaria over whole body
Cervical lymph nodes are swollen
Urticaria associated with liver complaints
Jaundice .

Urtica urens

Itching bloatches present
There is burning heat and formication .
Intense itching , marked redness
In urtica urens , urticaria alternates with rheumatism .
Worse from cold , snow air ,

Natrum Mur 

Well indicated in case of Urticaria which origin from exposure to sun rays .
Solar urticaria .
Rashes are red and mild itching present ,
Skin looks transparent as if patient would become dropsical , a waxy greasy shiny skin

Rhus tox , Sepia , and many more remedies are used in case of Urticaria
