WHAT IS HERPES ZOOSTER (SHINGLES)? 


 HERPES ZOOSTER VIRUS is lying dormant in the dorsal root ganglion following Chicken Pox in early life . It reactivated and result in HERPES ZOOSTER infection which occurs simultaneously or precipitate by injury , meningitis or use of drugs and also in immunosuppressed diseases .


INCUBATION PERIOD : 15 DAYS

AGE : ADULTS & MIDDLE AGE GROUP affected .

★ Started with Fever , Malaise , Lymphadenopathy and then pain in the involved Dermatones .

★ After 3-4 days RED Vesicles appears and in 1 weeks it gets dry up and leaves scars .

★ Vesicles contain free colourless fluid .

★ Nature of Pain is severe and there is burning and it is continues as long as virus remains .

★ If affecting the face region , first division of 5th Nerve is affected .
